First off, let me thank you for taking the time to visit our website. I know people are busy now more than ever and I appreciate your time. I thought it might be important to tell you a little about myself and the experiences that brought about this website.

In 1992 I entered the trucking business right out of college. I was a dispatcher in the Chicago, IL area. I dispatched local and regional freight for flatbeds, primarily for the steel industry.   In 1992, the internet was in its infancy. Load posting boards had really not come into their own. The only way to get a load for a truck that was out of your area was either to use truck stop load boards, DAT (satellite based load posting service) or cold calling.   Cold calling was probably the worst part of my job. For every 20 calls I would make, I would get 1 prospect. Not exactly a productive use of time, plus you also had to be a glutton for rejection.    Over the next ten years, I worked with 15 different dispatchers. Of those 15, 3-4 of them were exceptional. The thing they all had in common was that they were comfortable talking on the phone. I picked up as much of their techniques as I could and have become fairly successful on the phone.

At the turn of the century, load posting boards were in full swing. Many of our dispatchers (not the exceptional ones) would use these boards even when our trucks were in our area. It was said that it was done that way in the interest of time. Why make 20 phone calls for 1 load when I can click a mouse and get the load I want. 99% of the loads that were obtained from these load posting boards did not come from shippers, but other carriers or brokers. These other carriers or brokers would take anywhere from 10-35% off the top, depending on the load. In an industry that needs every penny it can get, 10-35% is a huge number. It hurts the shipper, the carrier and most importantly, the trucker.

The design of this website started in March of 2006. At the time of this writing, we are in our first release. Please be patient, we feel we have thoroughly tested the site but are continually humbled by the things we miss. If you find a bug, PLEASE email
support@truckinit.com
and we will address as soon as possible. Please also use that same address for suggestions for enhancements. To our shippers, please rest assured that all of our members carriers MC #’s are validated against the MCMIS database to validate active authority. In the near future, you will be able to click on a carrier’s SCAC to obtain carrier authority and insurance info.

Thank you all for you time. We hope you find this site helpful and productive.

Sincerely
John Rediehs
